Grant powers CTE/STEAM summer camps
Spring break brought good news to Douglas County educators and students, as the Umpqua Valley STEAM Hub was awarded a $198,060 grant for CTE/STEAM summer camps. Funding is available for two summers.
Details are pending on sites and curriculum, but all camps will focus on Career & Technical Education programs of study in county high schools and Umpqua Community College. Camps will include extensive, hands-on experiences using state-of-the-art equipment in manufacturing, welding and the trades. Other camps will focus on health care experiences. All will include a career skills component, developed in partnership with Umpqua Training and Employment. And every camp will feature post-high school education coaching, in partnership with UCC. The camps will be open to students from across Douglas County.
Supporting the summer camps with UCC and UTE are Roseburg Public Schools, the Winston-Dillard School District, Phoenix Charter School and Area Health Education Center. Check back for dates, registration and career training specifics.
