Apply for tuition grant

Class of 2016, now hear this! The Oregon Promise program is offering to cover some of all of your community college tuition, providing you qualify and fill out an application. It’s a great opportunity, and here’s how to take advantage of it.
First, here’s who can apply: High school students graduating in the spring of 2016 who have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and who have resided in Oregon for at least 12 months prior to enrolling in community college. You also must enroll at least half time in community college in fall of 2016.
Next, here’s how to apply: Complete the Oregon Promise application, found at www.OregonPromise.org, submit your high school transcript and complete the FAFSA or its approved equivalent. Students must accept all state and federal grants they are awarded to qualify for the Oregon Promise. (Talk to a school counselor or with someone at your office if if you need assistance. Help is also available from the Umpqua Community College financial aid office, 541-440-4602.
Last, the deadline to apply is March 1, 2016. So don’t delay. This is a great way to save money, and the clock is ticking!
