Phoenix Youth Corps recruiting for summer 2016
Phoenix School of Roseburg has begun recruitment for its Summer Oregon Youth Conservation Corps program.
This year 18 youth will be hired to work outdoors to perform technical natural resources projects partnered with the Roseburg BLM and the USFS Umpqua National Forest. Youth hired on the tech crews will learn and replicate field survey techniques practiced by agency scientists including timber stand exams, botanical surveys, invasive weed surveys, stream cross-section surveys, salmonid snorkel surveys, and many more.
Work begins June 21 and goes for seven weeks full-time Monday through Thursday. Applications will be accepted via e-mail until Friday February 26th for these positions.
Youth hired into the NR tech crew program have the potential to earn college credit from Umpqua Community College. The related prerequisite course work must be completed prior to service. All related coursework is available during the Spring Term 2016 at UCC. Related tuition costs will be covered by UCC and scholarships for associated fees are available from our program partner; Umpqua Watersheds.
