Robotics Summit tops STEAM Week schedule
Join our Umpqua Valley STEAM Hub, DCPSS, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Umpqua Valley at the Robotics Summit at 6:30 p.m. May 5 in the Community Room at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Umpqua Valley, 1144 NE Cedar St.
As often happens, when we get partners in the same room, we find out how many like-minded organizations and clubs are operating similar programs. In this case, we learned about a handful of robotics clubs and decided to try and gather these folks together to show off our various projects, learn from each other and see if there is joint venture we want to take on together. The summit will serve as a launching point to unite some robotics clubs and programs in the area and discuss ways to collaborate in mini-competitions, reach more youth in our area, and discuss innovations to strengthen all of our programs.
We encourage all folks involved or interested in robotics to join us for this event. It is expected to last no more than an hour. Please RSVP to umpquavalleysteamhub@gmail.com with numbers attending.
This event is the latest to top the schedule of events happening during our May 2-16 celebration of all things STEAM. We’re calling it our May STEAM Weeks. Oregon is also celebrating something similar called STEM Week May 2-9. We’ve extended the state celebration to include several well known Douglas County events and give local educators and youth leaders time to tie in with the local observation.
